Your Community Rocks

We move a lot. Every couple of years to be exact. The last community we lived in had a Facebook group for hiding rocks for others to find.

My granddaughter and I used to spend hours painting and hiding rocks all over our community. It was a great way to spend time together and serve our neighbors.

We recently moved to a community that does not have a Facebook group for hiding and finding rocks. So I created one so that when my granddaughter comes to visit we can have an activity that teaches her to serve.

CREATING A GROUP

  1. Create a group on Facebook and give it a name. I live in the Denali area so I named mine Denali Rocks.

  2. Invite friends and ask them to invite others

  3. Prepare some painted rocks to help kick things off. Once you start sharing rocks, others will follow.

THE INSTRUCTIONS I INCLUDED

1. Find rocks

2. Paint rocks

3. Hide painted rocks

4. Take pictures of the rock and surroundings and give a hint where it’s at

5. Share a picture in this group

Extra: write Denali Rocks on the back of the rock

Find a rock

1. Post in the original picture that you found it

2. Keep the rock or hide for the next person

ONE last tip, children will sometimes struggle with giving away all the rocks. What I do with my granddaughter is let her keep ONE.

Enjoy!

Creativity has always been a large part of my life. I believe that everyone is a creative, some people just have not discovered their passion yet. My goal is to share the message, “Go Forth and Create!”

Mixed media is my love. I thrive on the freedom of working in any medium I want and combining watercolor, ink, acrylics, fabrics-everything is fair game.

Living in Alaska, I am surrounded by beauty. I find the scenery and the people equally inspiring. the world is endlessly providing inspiration and my mission is to take full advantage. My favorites include color, nature, family, books, people and so much more.
