100 Day Project : Creative He(art)

This year I want to incorporate three of my classes in my 100 Day Project.

The He(art) of Journal Writing

Paper Poetry

Vintage Romance

With a side of Collage Dolls

I will be using the Get Messy journal to accomplish this. The journal is 84 pages and I want to include a few modifications to make the journal accommodate 100 days. The journal has pockets and I am going to make some little journals to slide in those to create the 100 days.

I am starting the project early because we have a big move in April/May when my husband retires. He is an Alaska State Trooper and they have supplied us with housing for most of his years of service. We will be spending most of our time in Wyoming where we grew up but we will always come back to Alaska for summers, NO MORE ALASKA WINTERS for us.

Anyway, I wanted to start this project early because I need the project to be completed by April 15. I will start the project on January 15 and finish it on April 15. Originally I wanted to start the project January 1 and complete the project by April 10. Unfortunately I was not able to get everything in order by then. I am calling the project 100 days of Creative He(art).  You are officially invited to join in even if you only do a 10 day, 5 day, 60 day project. #100daysofcreativeheart

How I prepare for a 100 day project

  1. Set a Clear Goal- For example, Improving skills, exploring new ideas, or completing a project.Gather supplies

  2. Create a Simple Daily Framework - Set a time limit that you want to spend on the project each day 15-30 minutes.  I map out what I will be doing for the week and paper clip any ephemera/fodder I will be using each day. I normally have seven clipped bundles ready to go. It helps me to not over think.

  3. Plan Ahead - I like to break the project down into 30 days, 30 days, 30 days, and 10 days. I will also give each section a sub-theme. For instance, tags or pockets. It helps me to avoid decision fatigue.

  4. Prepare Materials in Advance - Gather and organize your supplies. For this project I will be gathering tags, stencils, stickers, vintage papers, clip art and printables that I will be using in the project. Most other supplies are within reach at my desk.

  5. Reward Yourself - At the end of each 30 days I buy a new supply. It could just be clip art or stencils, something that will help me complete my project.

  6. Stay Flexible - If you miss a day, no worries. Work ahead, if you know you have a busy month work ahead so that you feel more on top of the project. I normally have 5-10 days worked ahead. It just gives me the buffer to stay on top of the project.

  7. Have Fun - Most of all just enjoy yourself.

Creativity has always been a large part of my life. I believe that everyone is a creative, some people just have not discovered their passion yet. My goal is to share the message, “Go Forth and Create!”

Mixed media is my love. I thrive on the freedom of working in any medium I want and combining watercolor, ink, acrylics, fabrics-everything is fair game.

Living in Alaska, I am surrounded by beauty. I find the scenery and the people equally inspiring. the world is endlessly providing inspiration and my mission is to take full advantage. My favorites include color, nature, family, books, people and so much more.
